It was the week before Easter; we thought it appealing to visit "Paris in the spring" with a few dinners under the Parisian night sky...and we pointed the car in the direction of Paris, but remembered a 'corner' set at the heart of France with Paris as its hub: Ile de France with a rich countryside incorporating a historic royal region of monumental splendour central to "la gloire de la France"! And so we stopped and revisited Fontainebleau, Versailles, Vaux-le-Vicomte and a few other sights...and enjoyed ourselves immensely..!! Paris will have to wait for another visit...
On the return trip home, we stopped at the Saline Royale at Arc-et-Senans...thinking we would call at Epernay for the champagne, but drove into a snowstorm along the way...the champers will also have to await another long week-end!!
