This is as it is seen from the living room of my sons Apt. You are looking across the East River as it connects to Long Island Sound. The tide is flowing in and if you look carefully you can see the current going towards the Sound. There is a very narrow point in that passage where the tide flows so strongly and so fast it is called Hell's gate.
