Insect_1161.jpg

Anybody know what this is? Body about 1 1/4", has "drumstick like" legs but no wings, jumps very high. Similar to a very large cricket or a grasshopper. I'd really like to know what it is!

Eric, thanks for posting an ID on this insect, and on some of the others too. I found the info on the katydid particularly interesting.

This is a male camel cricket, probably in the genus Ceuthophilus (there are many, many species). Commonly found in cellars, basements where it is dark and damp.
