The mangled culvert disqualified this dike from an award from Beautiful America, Inc.

I-80 Exit 84 (north of Grantsville, Utah)

The contorted metal remnant of a culvert certainly spoiled this otherwise lovely scene.

This dike caught my eye just after photographing a freight train that went by on the right-of-way
at far left. This looks west from a minor road that provides access to a salt evaporation facility.
The area at right is probably an evaporation pond where salt and related minerals are extracted
periodically, though my Benchmark atlas of Utah (page 42) labels it "mud flat." Out of view at
left, beyond the railroad grade, is Interstate 80. At bottom left are tumbleweeds.

What a pity, that culvert is the only thing that showed that humans where here.

Dave how do you find these kind of place...it's always amazed me to see the places you visited.

The "Mangled Culvert" was a good band; but it left you a little drained!

That's right, Steve---unless she asks you to.

Never stick your finger in a dyke.

Dan, your insight tears me up. Although the reporting of news is firmly entrenched in the Culvert Report, that sexist show does not discuss subjects that are based on a dyke.

Is this going to be on the "Culvert Report?

Time for a culvert operation. That would have been a striking scene without it and the piece of black plastic.
