By "pleasing" I mean that the gradient and traction make for easy walking and the lack of trees and bushes allows one to see the route ahead.

By "pleasing" i assume you mean "smooth." As awe-inspiring as this country is to me, I can't escape my upbringing: pleasing would have to involve a Starbucks with clean bathrooms and possibly ground transportation. It's a failing, I realize.
