PARENTS: shield your impressionable offspring from this debauchery in the wilderness

Floating Island, Utah view map

During my stay on the summit of Floating Island I had my cotton hiking pants off so they could dry out in the sun: the waist was wet from sweat.

Joe Tripod, who admirably assists me with self-portraits, said nothing during this questionable episode.

Well it is an improvement~most nude hikers just wear the boots....or worse the hat....

There are just so many comments one can make on this shot... I'll try to limit myself to just three:

"You can leave your hat on..." - Joe Cocker

"Honest, ranger... I... my pants... they were wet... I... yes ma'am, I'll sit back down."

This takes minimalist backpacking just a wee bit too far.

The fact that you left your hat on shows that your intent was pure. You didn't happen to stumble across a particularly potent cache of magic mushrooms, did you?

Dan, I share your concern. During this excursion I was high on---and above---vast expanses of salt and mud, which rendered me incapable of making moral judgements. In that state of mind I was not able to comprehend that walking sticks were obscene. One might then wonder why I did not clone out the stick when editing the photo. My religion forbids me to use the clone stamp on bamboo pixels.

I don't think I would've left the walking stick in the scene...
