Route ahead is in the deep shadow between fins

Southeast Poison Spider Mesa (near Moab, Utah)

The foreshortening effect makes the gully route appear much steeper than it was.
Almost all of the route was hiking and gentle scrambling. One spot presented a
challenge: a wall about ten feet tall. I could not have gotten past this wall
had someone not chiseled tiny hands holds and foot holds in the sandstone.

At upper left is a vegetated shelf that gave me access to another garden (out of view).

Well, I'm all Foreshortening; as long as there's no trans-fat

Then you must be fortunate to have tiny hands and feet. If you had big ass hands and feet, you would have been out of luck.
