Union Pacific freight train and rock fence along the Snake River

Near Glenns Ferry, Idaho view map

The electric fence exists to warn the railroad of the presence of rocks that have fallen from the hill (out of view to the left). When a rock severs one of the fence's wires, a warning light turns on at a railroad dispatching center. The dispatcher then takes action to prevent trains from traveling here until the rocks are cleaned up. This westbound freight train is following the Snake River.
