Fixing a trail

Renton, Washington

The trail in a local wooded area got messed up by some bicyclists who built little jumps in it, using dirt and pieces of logs. It was an annoyance to walk around the jumps. The solution was to destroy them, returning the trail to its original condition. Here I am about to begin working on the first of three such abominations. In about 90 minutes the work was complete.

My assistant, Joe Tripod, doesn't work with shovels, but he digs this type of assignment.

Response to 1moremile: The very serious, far-away look is the result of suppressing an ear-to-ear photo smile.

Larry, about that "serious look"---I was thinking about how it would feel to be re-assigned to Michigan. My mind was numb.

Dan---the van was NOT nearby (someone stole it; it was found at a marina on Hayden Island, Oregon).

Larry (again)---Thanks, but just to clarify...I broke the ground but did not break any "new" ground.

That is such a serious look that I have to smile. Fixing a trail can't be the end of the world. Did Joe tell you to look serious?

The work was hairy but the corpse was not.

so you got your tripod trained to use a shovel too. To me it looks like a scene from "The Trouble With Harry". Were you burying or digging up Harry?
