After walking to the base of the "stressed-out cliff," I returned to my lunch spot, pictured here.
Usually I am accompanied on such jaunts by Joe Tripod, my personal assistant. This time he stayed
behind to be alone and soak up the sun (don't worry: he used sunscreen). You can see Joe here,
lying next to my backpack with his feet pointing toward the camera.
The whole time I was here, swallows were flying about the tower above, apparently feeding
babies in niches in the rock. Once in a while I could hear peeps or the flapping of wings.
It was surprisingly cool for a while (or I am a wimp), hence the jacket and vest.
After gathering my gear I headed for the far end of the amphitheater to see what was there.
