Thanks, Gary, but I have to confess to a deception here. Timing was not a factor. First we attached this short-but-quite-heavy piece of the tree to the chainsaw. Then Ken held in in place, wiggling it to simulate a gravity blur, and I pressed the shutter button. After 23 takes, I got this passable result. Ken went home with sore arms. I cannot reveal the technique used to create the simulation of flying sawdust.
