All day long flocks of birds---mostly pelicans---flew through the area in a consistent pattern. They
flew southeast along the shore past Spiral Jetty, turned at the end of the ridge, rode the air currents in
spirals along the centerline of the ridge, and (having gained altitude) continued to the northeast.
These are pelicans in one of their loops above the ridge, passing over me. I was mesmerized.
