Over the years I have suffered because my name was not boldly displayed for the world to see. Somebody finally recognized my problem and decided to offer a solution.
The timing could not have been better: I was on the road, having visited Utah again and was in Indio, California on my way to meet someone in Palm Spring. In spite of my plans, I lacked purpose and a feeling of worth.
As I cruised fitfully down SR 111 in Indio, my peripheral vision briefly caught sight of this sign. I could not believe my eyes---the scene seemed to be too good to be true. To confirm what I thought I had seen I turned the Green Weenie around and went back for another look. As I approached this building, which had undoubtedly housed something important recently, tears welled up in my eyes.
After parking the car I calmed down enough to realize that a photo of the sign was in order. But that necessitated a quick re-positioning of the Green Weenie. There was ample parking space to effect this. Once that had been accomplished I summoned the help of Ralph Tripod for this act of documentation.
Several re-shoots were required to get an acceptable picture, as I was overcome with emotion and had to hide my face from the camera, ruining some images. Finally, after my industrial-grade tranquilizers kicked in, this satisfactory image was produced.
Thanks to Ralph for his patience and to the City of Indio for supporting this meaningful tribute. I have yet to hear from the owners of the property about the date for installation of my name in big, bold letters.
The vantage point of this photo is at the center of this WikiMapia aerial view.
