Blue Castle is a small double spire in the Book Cliffs just north of Green River, Utah (see map). A casual, exposed trail winds its way counterclockwise to the base of the summit block. The summit block is about 50 feet (15m) tall.
This is a bleak landscape that not all visitors would find attractive. But thanks to the generous efforts of local volunteers, the area has been given some "beautification" that is sure to please the public. Caring and daring riders of motorcycles have donated their time (and gas!) to improve the appearance of this rather ugly topography by operating their vehicles up and down the steep clay-like slope, creating a pleasant arrangement of sometimes-parallel lines in the soft soil. I was impressed that there is such a spirit of community and selflessness in this area. These tracks also appear in the previous image.
This land is managed by the BLM.
