Co-incidence at Crescent Junction

view map

This is an example of accidental rephotography because I did not intend to duplicate anything.

The vantage point of both photos is Frontage Road, just east of Crescent Junction, Utah (about 30 miles north of Moab). The views are to the northeast.

The upper image is my 2006 photo of a train that I happened to see when I was in the area. Below it is a scene from the 1983 movie "Thelma and Louise," which I watched at home in 2007. The shared location is pure co-incidence. Some time after watching the movie---I don't remember when---I realized that I had taken a picture the previous October that duplicated a scene in the movie.

By the way, the movie scene comes just before Thelma and Louise encounter a trucker driving a gasoline-filled semi-trailer. The trucker makes an obscene gesture at them. Shortly thereafter, they destroy the truck by shooting bullets at it: it explodes.

The vantage point for my photo is at the center of this WikiMapia aerial view.
