(Aura cavities are explained elsewhere.)
Here I am standing at the bottom of the largest aura cavity on record (I should know because I maintain the records). This cavity, oval in shape, is about 16 feet (4.9m) deep and 25 feet (7.6m) wide at its widest point. Its flat bottom is hard, dry mud. Knowing that even True Believers would doubt my claim of a cavity of this size, I placed myself in the scene to provide scale. I am almost six feet (1.8m) tall. This cavity is in a sandstone fin in an area called Poison Spider Mesa, a few miles from Moab, Utah. People who do not believe in psychic sandstone auras would erroneously call this a pothole, a cavity created by physical erosional forces.
My goal was to maintain this position for at least 7.1 hours, without moving in the slightest; that is how long it takes to achieve a New Level of Understanding. Sadly, at the 6.9-hour mark, I got a cramp in my brain and wobbled for a moment, mostly negating my hard work. I was only able to achieve a level of understanding called "what, me worry?" Bummer.
Photographing myself in this manner would not be possible without the valuable support of my photographic aide-de-camp, Joe Tripod. His shadow appears at bottom left.
The direction of this view is east-southeast.
