This memorial to Wayne Iver Slaaen is located on the BNSF right-of-way in Renton, Washington. I photographed it in August 2007, when work was beginning on a re-building of the BNSF line through Renton. This was about 100 feet from the Shattuck Avenue bridge, one of four in Renton that were re-built. Vegetation had been cut back for the construction work. It looked as if the vegetation had obscured the memorial. On the cross is written “In Loving Memory of Wayne Iver Slaaen, Age 38; Died Here 2-3-10; Alcohol Overdose.”
