Amphitheater of Winter Camp Wash in Arches National Park view map

Sandstone Deprivation Syndrome (SDS) exerts terrible effects on weak-brained individuals, as seen here. It might be hard to believe, but this man was expressing his thanks to the God of Sandstone (physically embodied by Delicate Arch) for ensuring that he completed a hike in Arches National Park. The hike was a circumnavigation of Delicate Arch Viewpoint.

We know this because he said so while under sedation at an SDS Recovery Center in the park after the hike. He went to the center to decompress after being high on sandstone for several hours. Park officials released him under his own recognizance when he was deemed fit to re-join other park visitors.

Although this scene might seem humorous, please consider that the man is suffering from an incurable disease. Ridiculous actions such as that pictured are not his fault.

It was bad judgment for the park to let you drive while stoned.

I sympathise Dave, I only see the red rocks in your photos, and that alone makes me feel bad.

Why didn't Joe Tripod step in and offer assistance instead of just standing there?
