I first saw this train miles away from here in Gochute Valley while I drove eastward on Interstate 80 near Oasis. Seeing an opportunity for train photography, I zoomed east toward Wendover, planning to get some pictures there. But rather than driving into town for some close-up shots, I stopped on the hill west of town so I could watch the train slither through the curves below Ola Siding and get some landscape context shots.
Near the crest of Wendover Boulevard, I parked the car and walked to a rock outcrop, where I sat down and waited. With binoculars I watched the train descend the long grade toward Ola Siding and Wendover. This is one of many shots I got during the train's descent. Zoom lens was set to 90mm.
