The return hike was from north to south. North is to the right. The handcart is "backwards" because I pushed it most of the way, which was more comfortable than pulling it.
Forwards or backwards are concepts unknown to my photographic assistant, Joe Tripod, who stood quietly as he held my camera for this shot.
