Absolutely NOT multi-tasking on Interstate 70... 20060411_9555

San Rafael Reef, Utah view map

The idea that a person can do two things at once ("multi-tasking") is a myth, a hoax,
and a cruel joke. Thus I disavow---with confidence and prejudice---any knowledge of
having taken this picture while driving westward on Interstate 70 at or about 60mph
(96kph), using my right hand to operate the camera, my left hand to steer, and my
eyes to watch the road ahead (whose westbound lanes were practically empty).

However, I will confirm the following:
---Camera settings were ISO 200, 1/400th second at f9, 20mm focal length
---This view is through the front passenger window
---The scene is in Spotted Wolf Canyon.

Sadly, geotagging is not available, as my GPS device---securely mounted on the dashboard---had
lost power and I was thus straining to replace the seven D batteries used to power it. Removing the
lid of the battery case (located out of the way under the passenger seat) was a challenge. But I
persevered and can report with glee that when the state trooper pulled me over----ostensibly for
weaving in and out of the lane----I had completed the replacement, thus raising no suspicions in
his mind about "multi-tasking run amok" (a moving violation subject to an IQ test and a hefty fine).

Or so ridiculous that it must be imaginary.

7 D cells, it must be a GPS, either so old it doesn't matter, or so new it has red rock powers

Deep subject!

That's not hard to fathom, Dave.

Steve, I'm surprised that you would make such a demeaning comment. I would NEVER let myself be distracted while driving next to an unfathomable drop-off! (However, fathomable drop-offs are fair game.)

Driving can be interesting for a landscape photographer, expecilly in scenic areas like this. I don't recommend doing this with your family; they won't appreciate your absorption in the natural beauty of a place as you abruptly pull your car away from its drfit toward the brink of an unfathomable drop-off.
