Lying to the surfing public is an abomination. However, in the interest of amusing surfers with the best photos possible, I am not above resorting to the use of disinformation.
The pictured scene is a lie, an untruth, a falsehood, a con job, a sham, and an offense to motherhood and apple pie. It is all of that because my actual direction of travel was away from the camera. I performed this lie because this angle was more conducive to a good photo. President Bush said---just before he left office in January 2009---that it's all right to do something seemingly bad if done for a good reason; I believe that statement gives me immunity from prosecution for the moral travesty exhibited on this web page.
This is in Arches National Park, near Delicate Arch. I was engaged in an off-trail exploration of a drainage feature. In spite of the cloudiness, it was fun.
Joe Tripod supported my camera for this documentation. However, his action did not abet the lie because his mission is only to hold my camera still, which he did well.
