Zeb, my lovely Carolina Reaper

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

This gallery contains documentary photos of the only Carolina Reaper plant that I managed to grow from a seed pack that I ordered online.
I named this plant "Zeb" (from Beelzebub), and I hope I can grow more plants later from its seeds.

The Carolina Reaper is of course the world's hottest pepper. With its Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) reaching as high as 2.2 M, it is about 22 times
hotter than our local, fiery siling labuyo. In other words, eating 1 gram of Zeb's fruit should be the similar to consuming 22 grams of siling labuyo, hotness-wise.

I doubt if I possess the fortitude to consume Zeb's fruits as is. I'll probably just pickle these in local vinegar, and enjoy the diluted concoction as a dip.
