Here are some snapshots taken during the opening ceremonies of the "Jewels of the Philippine Forest" bird photo exhibit at the Museum of the Filipino People.
The exhibit was organized by the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines and the Philippine Bird Photography Forum. It features the work of
9 Filipino wild bird photographers and runs from July 11 to August 11, 2009. Click here for more information on the exhibit.

EXHIBIT ATTRACTIONS. Aside from 46 big prints of forest birds, the exhibit also features a collection of preserved bird specimens, 
a display of a mannequin in full birding gear , and a video showing of Ibong Gubat (a 30-minute short film on some Luzon forest birds by Romy Ocon).

KINGFISHERS, DEAD AND ALIVE. The National Museum's display of kingfisher specimens provides an interesting measure 
of the relative sizes of these colorful birds. Insets for comparison are photos of the same species taken in habitat, in full living color.

THE PRIME MOVERS OF THE WBCP. The Wild Bird Club of the Philippines held its 6th Anniversary celebration right after the exhibit opening. 
Photo shows the senior officers of the WBCP (L to R) - Alex Tiongco, Ipat Luna, Anna Gonzales, Alice Villa-Real, Mike Lu (WBCP President), 
Tintin Telesforo and Trinket Canlas. Most wild bird photographers in the Philippines, including those whose work are currently exhibited, are long-time members of the WBCP.
