Stork-billed Kingfisher

Scientific name - Halcyon capensis (endemic gouldi race)

Habitat - Uncommon along coasts and estuaries, and large rivers.

I saw this bird every single day in January-February In Ubud/Bali/Indonesia....fishing in the Lotus pond.None of my Balinese friends had ever seen this bird before. Unlike the common Java kingfisher (Halcyon cyanoventris) this bird wasn't shy at all. Thanks for your beautiful pictures. Ton

This pretty Kingfisher ranges only in the islands of southern Philippines, and I had to go to Palawan to be able to photograph it.
