So, is this a feeding or a nest cleaning. I thought that was a grub until reading your explanation. Which ever...this is an amazing image. Voted.

PERFECT SANITATION. On several occasions, the nestlings "did their toilet thing" and either the male or female parent pulled the dropping from the rear of the "guilty" bird, flew a few meters away, and deposited the waste in a particular place in the ground.

I'm amazed at the relative size of the dropping, but I'm absolutely stunned with how the parent Monarchs kept the nest clean.
