Despite being hand held at 700 mm, I'm very happy with the detail in this capture of a very rarely photographed Philippine endemic, while it was in the middle of a beautiful song. I wish the background and foreground are better, but this tiny bird prefers to stay in the tangles of rainforest undergrowth and I'd take whatever shot this pretty bird allows me.
This photo, because of extreme rarity and difficulty of capture, replaces the underexposed Scale-feathered Malkoha in my elite list, the first instance that an endemic bird was displaced.
