Blackish Cuckoo-Shrike (Coracina coerulescens, a Philippine endemic)

This is probably one of the toughest exposure jobs I encountered to date - a black bird with a non-glossy plumage silhouetted against the very bright shy. Torn between the devil and the deep blue sea, I chose to manually expose for the bird and left the background to fend for itself.

Shooting RAW helped a bit in exposing some detail in the charcoal-colored, rarely photographed Philippine endemic. This is my best photo of this species so far.
