This fast flier caught in sweet light from the setting sun at Manila Bay replaces the Rufous Night-Heron in my pound-for-pound list. Everything really went well with this capture - perfect wing position, slightly open bill, the catchlight in the eye, excellent background, good sharpness and spot-on exposure.
Some water droplets from a previous attempt by the bird to snatch a fish were falling in front of the head and these bring IMHO another nice element to the photo.
This is probably my best flight shot ever, and I prefer it over that of the Philippine Serpent-Eagle, Green Imperial-Pigeon and other fliers that also appear in my Top 25.
