My grandmother's name was Leah Ruchman, she was a daughter of Meier Ruchman. My grandma's family used to live in Bessarabia and had many relatives in Chotin district(including Novoselitsa). They had a big family (about 93 people). However, most of my grandmother's family perished on the way to/in a concentration camp in Bershad.

My name is John Reinis and my grandfather, Miguel (Ghiel,Yehiel,Jehiel) Reinis (or Reines) was born in Novosolitsa on February 2, 1901. His parents were Simon (Shimon or Simha) and Maria (or Mariem-Yta) Chipizel (or Chripriel, Chipicel). He had at least one sibling named Pablo or Pedro and a cousin named Simon. The latter lived in Santa Marta, Colombia. My grandfather arrived in Colombia on or around September 4, 1927 and met my grandmother, Matilde Pardo in 1931. They later moved to Buenaventura before settling in Cali, Colombia. We believe he went to Colombia with the following friends or relatives: Peich Reinis (B:April 15, 1903),Malga Ghitis (B:1893),Miguel Ghitis (B:1899),Alberto Ghitis E. Hello, my grandmother (Nanny) was Sara Gayman. She also came from Novocelitsa. She described herself as Russian, and said she was from Bessarabia, from a little village called Novocelitz. That is all I know about it. She never wanted to talk about it. She came to the US as a girl.

Hello. I recently discovered this page when trying to find my ancestor roots. My great uncle and his wife lived in this town and are registered as victims of the Holocaust with Yad Vashem. My great aunt Rita Feldman-Sterenberg and her husband Menashe Sterenberg were born in Novaselitsa. They had two children Itzhak and Raya. They were all murdered in the pogram of July 41-those photos are great. Thank you!

Hello, my name is Suzanna Raykher. I was born in Novoselitsa in 1980. My grandfather survived the war there. We moved to U.S. in 1989. My grandfather's last name is GONIKMAN. He told me that one of his brothers was able to go to South America to escape the Nazis. I believe he said Argentina but it could have been another place in South America. My grandfather Jacobo Bronstein was born in 1909-10 in Malinti, about 30 Kms from Novoselitsa, but was registered there. He was the son of Faivel Bronstein and Ghitel Vaisman (there might be some variations in the spelling). It appears that he came in late 20s to Cali, Colombia. My name is Jose Roitman, 56 years old, live in Highland Park, Illinois, USA, born in Bogota, Colombia. My father and one uncle were born in Nova Sulita around 1926 and 1928 and came to Colombnia as children. there are quite a few people from Nova Sulita and nearby towns thel left 1n the 1930s living in Colombia. Their uncle was born in the neat town of Khotin, on the Dniester River. Encyclopedia Judaica and the book by Matatias Carp, titled Holocaust in Rumania. Facts and Document of the annihilation of the Romanian Jews 1940-44, Edited by Andrew Simon, ISBN 0-9665734-7-1, Library of Congress ctalog# 00=102297 has also documentation of the fate of the Jewish population of Nova Sulita. My name is David Gleiser. My father's father came from Nova Sulita. He went to Peru together with his cousins and male in laws around 1925. They were fleeing conscription and making Amerika after some of their elders. Around 1928 he went back to Romania when he had already aquired his peruvian nationality where he was excempted of the military service and the he started to facilitate the emigration of the rest of his family. He had 5 sisters and one brother. Unfortunately he only managed to bring one sister, his wife and one of his brother in law back to South America. One the way back he stayed in Colombia because my grandmother was "sick" (pregnant they found out later). His sister went to Venezuela with her husband. Mr Israel S Goihman was also Novoselitzer. His brother in law Moishe Gafter stayed in Ecuador. Thus the Gleizers became spreadout in South America from Venezuela to Peru. Most of the Gleisers are in Peru. The descendants of two Gleiser Vainstein families (it appears to have been fashinable in those days to marry amongst cousins). The Novoselitzer branch of the family is, however, the smallest. The Gafters have descendants in Guayaquil and Bogotá. The Goihman's are in Venezuela and South Florida. The descendants of my grandfather ate in Bogotá and in Williamsburg, Va. Recently I became acquainted with the grandaughter ans the great grandaughter of my Grandfather's only brother Zcariah. They stayed in Europe and lived there during the soviet years moving fron Novoselitsa to Tiraspol. Eventually, in the 1990's, they went to Israel, where Berenika Glixman Gleizer has become an outstanding pianist.

My grandfather was born there, but we believe he lived in Khotyn. His name then was Mordco (Mordechai in Hebrew)Kischner, but when he arrived in the US it was changed to Max Kushner. Other relatives lived, we believe, in Pruchnik Poland. Great grandmothers name was Tema Gruss. Another family name is Ostrower. We are planning a trip back to this region next year. My grand-father Nachmann Barak was born there, he emigrated to France before worl war 1. Some relatives emigrated to Chile, others to the USA or Israel. But he never talked about the past. Mario Altman,(Buenos Aires, Argentina) Mi papá Iosl Altman Z´L nacio en Noveseletz en 1916 hijo de Moishe Altman Z´L y Perl Orsntein Z´L sus hermanos Leizer Z´L emigro antes de la guerra a Israel y se caso con Tzipora Ghitis quien tambien vino de Noveseletz, mi papa y sus otros hermanos Abrahm Cusnir Z´L quien emigro despues de la guerra a Colombia y el menor de ellos Shloime Z´L viajo junto a su mama Perl a Israel, Netanya. Mi papa sus hermanos y padres pasaron la guerra en los campos de Shargorod y Transnistria, alli fallecio mi abuelo Moishe. Todos ellos se casaron tuvieron hijos y nietos y siempre se mantuvo el recuerdo durante estas tres generaciones del "Alter Eim" el Shteil de Noveseletz

My mother as well as her family were from Noveselets, they went to Lima Peru were I was born, I speak spanish and english and want to go there. My mothers brother was born there and lives in US, he made a map of the city the way it was before they left ( for the holocost), so I have an idea of the place. If anybody is interested we can organize a trip from Miami?... I was planing that for next year because there is some people in Peru that want to go.

My grandfather (Leizer or Leon Sternberg) came from Novoselitsa to Peru during the 1913-1915, His parents where Osias Sternberg and Cirla Loibman. He had two siblings, Jose and Manuel who migrated to South America too. He migrated to Peru with other locals, all around the same age (Jose Fishman, Moises Seinjet and David Zehter or Setter) After living in Peru for a couple of years he moved to Cali Colombia. We dont have any more information about my grandfather so if anyone can share with me any information about them or if someone has made a trip to Novoselitsa, let us know what have you find.

My father left Novoselitsa in 1929 and arrived to Perú...my grandparents died there but listened different stories about that..one of them that rumanians killed them when they were obligated to cross the Niepster River..thats why they are not registered on Yad Vashem as victims of the Holocaust..do someone knows something else about this episody..did anyone knew my grandparents Chaim and Feiga Sadovnic? My grandfather -Shimshun Seifer- came from this town with his mother and some sisters to Buenos Aires in 1928. Part of his mind always lived in Novoselitse and I hope one day I will "go back", to meet again, in some way, my seide.

My grandfather was born also there and emigrated to Ecuador with his father around 1940. His papers say he is rumanian, because he was registered in Bucarest and in that time, Novoselitsa belonged to Rumania, now it is part of Ukrania. I was visiting East Europe last year, it was such a beautiful experience, the culture is rich and the food is spectacular. Maybe one day I will go to Novoselitsa and find something else about the sad past of my ancestors.

My grandmother was born there and my grandfather was born in Transilvania. It was Romania back then I believe, they emigrated to Peru as well during WWI.

My grandfather Yehiel Ghitis was also from Novaselitsa and arrive Peru before the war. It seem that in the "Shteitel" that was the idea of America. At he end he arrived and live in Cali Colombia.

My grandmother, one of 11 children, left this village in 1907, in search of a better life in America. She was never able to return to visit in her lifetime, although she lived to 98. I hope to visit someday - these are beautiful photos, and I thank you for giving me a glimpse into the past of my family. I had always heard how beautiful it was there, and now I know that it truly is.
