January 13, 14, 2008 is my first gallery on New Year. Got myself a late Christmas gift of a new lens f/2.8 100 mm macro .
For my first event with new lens I took myself on a drive up the coast 200 mile's to Pismo Beach were Monarch Butterfly hang out for the winter in a eucalyptus grove. http://www.monarchbutterfly.org/ The rains the weekend before this made for outstanding weather and temps in upper 70's and so clear that I could see the channal island"s and oil platforms off the coast.
On the drive up I stopped off at the little arty community of Los Olivos. I wonted to photograph a courtyard that has some great art by a welder. http://www.phillipglashoff.com/home.html

There's a couple mating here	When they are done mating the male fly into the tree's with female tucked together for the night !!!	They do there mating on the ground .	Female monarch in hand of docent .

			Monarch caterpllar on milkweed plant !!
The little one is in focus.		Yes they eat milkweed !!!
A couple got a 1 gal milkweed plant to take home and put it down on a fence,right away one landed on it .			This plant helped me get some outstanding photo's !!!
I give myself A + + + on this photo and new lens helped !!!			Owner of plant getting some photo's !!!

excellent gallery lion.. love the butterflys, and really like the waves and the ocean shots. you certainly find some interesting thngs to capture!!! keep up the good work sally

Hi Lion, Beautiful pix and a delight to look at. Interesting info to go along with the pix. I don't have a fav since I always enjoy all of your pix. I can hardly believe the snake and how real it looks. Keep up the good work.

Excellent gallery. The butterflies do look like this. And shell beach is a great contrast to Pismo. Good show. Thank you for your message telling me of your new gallery. Next weekend we are going to the Oregon coast, will send you the address of the new gallery.
