Day two of my Birthday weekend trip

Was up at O dark hours again off with John as tour guide.As it had rained at the motel over night we were surprize to have that white junk " snow " all over the high peaks of the MTNS .Drive north on 395 took use too the hot creek just at sunrise.Then we moved over by Covict Lake area for great photo's.
Took a brake for breakfast at Tom's place which has alot of history with it. Now with belly's fuel-up it was a drive on part of old 395 back to Bishop. With lower altitude came some more great colors
After returning to the motel were John download his picture's , it was my turn to finish off the afternoon by driving up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.

Sunrise on this Saturday Morning	Steam coming out above hot creek .	Hot Creek Canyon !!!	Snow capped Mtns showing through the steam !!!
	Cold Cold mor,sun just showing on mths.	Photographer and tripod down by creek .	First shot with my 400 mm lens ,at just 115 mm.
	Was trying to get fench line in photo		Looking into canyon with one of my best shot !!!!
Don't think I like to hike here !!!!		This is only open Sunrise and Sunset .	This be a nice shot if it wasn't for the tree .
Frost on top of fench post .	Nice view !!!	Nice view thanks to 100 MM lens	The walk into the canyon .
Out to 400 mm's on this photo .	Snow on this oncoming car .	Can't see out his back window .	Almost 8 AM now ,and 260 mm's on this photo.
		Is this you John ?? ??	As its warming up the frost goes by by !!!
Almost looks like a painting to me !!!		Last look into Hot Creek !!!	Leaving Hot Creek area.
Road to Convict Lake ,Love the view .	Convict lake		This may be one for my wall. 5x7 or 8 x 10 ???
Looks like John looking for a spot to plant his tripod !!!		Nice creek flowing into Convict lake.	John I got you again " SMILE " !!!!
Cool look down creek with some reflections !!!	Rugged Rugged look , love it !!!	Thanks clouds for making this photo !!!	Shot on the move from car .
Funny to see this Lic's plate,	Awesome !!!!	A set up XJ long way from home .Party most be out backpacking .	Here 's that stuff I don't like,but guess I can put up with it for one day !!!
Iced frozen weeds .	Ice does make for interesting photo's !!!	Wonder which ice photo's folks will like the best ????	9 in morning and lucky ice is still around .
See ice makes for interesting photo's to my eyes !!!	Little too cold for a picnic for me !!!!	Pile frozen leaves in creek .
	Can you tell were timber line is in this photo .	Lower altitude on backroad to Bishop brought use some awesome colors.	I like the way green of pines sets off the yellow of the aspen .!!!
In this photo a few of the aspens are still green !!!	Even got a blue spruce in color in this photo !!!		Awesome ,now to see what folks say about this photo. Its got my " VOTE " !!!!
Still got some green here here here !!!	And just across the road there has been a fire !!!	Bike trying to pass up John's car !!!	Think hes going to do it !!!
Hes done it he's ahead !!!	Now down in flat land. Looks like a lot of the white junk has melted away	Blazing color on this big old cottonwood !!!
This old road is a great challenge for bike's as their all over the place .	What a great photogenic tree with cattle field and mtn's for back drop !!!	Awesome	Ditch of cattail's add alot to this photo !!!
Haven't seen cattail's in years	Tall cottonwooods make for a great view down this lane !!!	Nice drive and look of old cottonwoods on this road !!!	Back to motel to download picture's
Sun flower you are my favorite, as I had you on my logo !!!	Zinnia in front of our motel room !!!	Mr. bee like the zinnia !!!	Smile of a Zinnia !!!
You got to open up this thumbnail !!!	Now about to take some of this walk.	Be sure to read sign as it tell alot !!!!	Pine's that are still living !!!
Arty wood	How old is this wood .		Alot of arty lines in this piece !!!
History in writing		My Jeep resting after a long winding climb to 10000 FT !!!	I didn't this Bristlecone can't be too ancient !!!
	More to study !!!	I like the colors patterns in this wood !!!	Standing tall, and looking arty !!
		All kind of arty lines in the tree's !!!!
	A living and not in this photo !!!
	Its nice that these are along the trail .
	They say the rings tell the age !!!	Looking out to Death Valley.	Part of the winding road below and Saline Valley in distance !!!

Hope you took an extra blanket, jacket or sleeping bag along as it looked like over 10,000 ft. things were a just a little nippy? Are you the guy who says SNOW is a 4 letter word? Sure looks beautiful on those mountains! I am still waiting for my calendar with all these georgous California shots! Keep up the nice work! :<O Happy New Year too! Bets

Love your pictures. We know these places well...these are our old stumping grounds. We often stay up at Rock Creek, above Tom's place. The Bristle Cones are also fascinating. Hard to decide which one is the best picture. Looks like you had a very nice birthday, Lion. Thanks for the beautiful pictures...we really enjoyed them.
