I just shot video of this bird hunting for frogs ( and catching them) along side my pool. I didn't open it this year due to repair work needed on the lines, so its loaded with frogs. He was very interesting to watch and very funny at times. Thanks for the info on this interesting bird.

This morning I saw my first Bittern, walking slowly along the drainage creek next to my home
in Novi Michigan. I've heard the strange bird calls for years but never knew what it could be.
She was very hard to see even with binoculars up close until she moved. If she didn't move,
I wouldn't have seen her in the dead cattails

I live in the Sandtown Winchester area of Baltimore City and this Bittern was on the fence for about an hour. I did not know what it was until I check this site. I never seen anything like it. Amazing.

Very nice charles. Great shot of an american bittern. Its one of the hardest birds to find and capture on a photo. I will be looking at your gallery as one of my favorite web sites to watch. Goodluck on your quest. I have so many species of birds and other wildlife to photograph ahead of me. Talk to soon on Daves Garden site.

I just saw one in Crofton Park in the reflecting pool. It was such an odd looking bird I came here to look it up. Nice picture.

I've only seen one Bittern in my life. They are shy, and not easy to find in the reeds . Nice find .
