My husband and I saw this tiny waterfowl hanging out with the local geese at our community pond in Urbana, MD. We were amazed at how long it would stay underwater. We too thought it looked like a baby duck, but knew that it couldn't be because of the time of year. Now, we know what it is! Thanks!

When I first saw these at Greenbelt Lake I thought they were goslings, but it was not the right time of year. Then I though they might be small ducks, but then it went underwater! I was completely baffled and could not even identify them in my birding book. Thus, I turned to the internet, found your site, and voila! After joyously rejoicing I checked my birding book again and had apparently skipped a page :)

You take fantastic pictures. Keep up the good work!
