I just saw one of these birds in the canal along the North West branch Park system in Hyattsville, MD. I thought it was a wood duck until I looked it up. He was all by himself. The canal attracts lots of water fowl. Regular visitors include Canadian geese, one white domestic goose that has made camp there and lots of visiting Mallard ducks.
