Just pulled up in to my house and found a male and female and 2 babies in the driveway! They are so cute. They definitely did a little dance.

Wow! We were so interested in this bird who is nesting in the gravel beside our driveway. We too found a broken egg a week or so ago and finally found the nest with two additional eggs. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the baby birds. The mom is very protective of her nest!

I am seven years old and saw one of these birds in the church gravel parking lot, nestled in some weeds. And sure enough, the bird was gone within a day or two. I was exploring where the bird had been and found part of a broken egg shell. Prior to that, when my dad and I first saw her, she was squawking and flapping her wings at us as she protected her egg. Thanks so much for this site! We were going nuts trying to figure out what type of bird she was. (written by mom)

these birds are sooo crazy! They do this dance acting as if they are wounded, to steer you away from their nest in the rocks or grasses, yet they put the nest in the strangest places. One put its nest in my gravel and shell driveway right in the spot where I park my car all of the time. I came back one day, it and the eggs were all gone!
