Lake Marburg - Codorus State Park

This photo was taken at the exact same location some time shortly thereafter as the lake began to fill. The farm structures shown in the previous photo are now underwater.

Love this area, was beautiful before park was even there! I was one of those kids that had to move, lived on a small farm on Marburg flat and walked past the small town of Marburg everyday on my way to school. I wish we had more pictures, I do have pictures of our farm, but not of the town of Marburg. I stopped at Marburg store and got cough drops or ice cream cone from the old couple that owned the store the Markles. We had a creek in the meadow where we raised heifers and had chickens, pigs and had our own strawberry patch, which we kids picked and sold for a quarter a box. Remember it well!

Thank you,I've been curious what was under the water at codorus ever since hearing about there. Being a town under the lake when I moved here

George, unfortunately going through all of my slides is a lengthy process. I took these two photos back in 1966 with the prime intent of showing a before and after. I'm not confident that I have anymore "before" slides. I'm not sure I could even find this exact location today. So much has been done to the area since 1966.
