It’s early morning sunshine on the Examination School, where Louise and I had walked to pick up her car. The light was so lovely, I decided that I’d get a shot and in fact, this is absolutely the only photo I have taken today, which is an incredibly rare occurrence.
To be honest, I’m just tired. This week has been exhausting in every way and all I wanted to do when this shot was taken was to get home.
I’m certainly no jet-setter.
Louise is my brilliant friend and colleague. She’s so talented it’s not true. Meeting her was a very fortunate event in my world. She kindly gave me a lift today so I could cut out part of my train journey and this meant I was able to get home earlier than planned…..although it turned out that it was not as early as I’d have liked.
The sun was shining in Oxford, I set off in a tee shirt and trousers. By the time I got off the train, it was raining and cold. There was no sign of DM so I waited. Everyone else had gone and I’d been standing in nothing warmer than a tee shirt sheltering from the rain for fifteen minutes when I got fed-up. I knew DM wouldn’t have his mobile phone on him so in desperation I did the only thing that I thought I could do – I rang home.
Imagine my surprise when he answered the phone. He said ‘where are you?’ I answered ‘I could ask you the same question!’ He was mortified when he realised he’d read the timetable wrongly and therefore had not yet set off.
Last year, I was flying high - just like a bank robber!
I wish it’d been sunny……
