10th April 2007 - Archie helps

This has been the very last day of my holiday and as usual I have reflected on my own progress while I’ve been away and concluded that I’VE JUST NOT DONE ENOUGH!

This is, of course, complete Linda idiocy because I now have a fully planted vegetable plot (the only spaces are where there are things in the greenhouse starting off), a greenhouse full of plants, a largely tidy garden and a big dent in many strands of ‘grand plan’ activity.

So, in a frenzy of ‘I must atone for my sin of not working hard enough’ I decided to do some more hacking back in the thicket and shredding the waste to make another part of the path in the veggie garden.

The sun has beaten down on me all day and I have slaved away, but I have made a whole new path and I have also made a lot of progress in the thicket, getting some of the extremely overgrown shrubs cut back to stimulate new growth.

I’ve had Rosie dumping her tennis ball at my feet every few minutes, the hens checking out everything I do in case I have upturned a tasty woodlouse or slug for them and Archie has taken away a bit of shrub for his own use. This shot is him taking it away, with an anxious look on his face.

Of course when Arch shows an interest in something the little madam Rosie soon makes it her own so after half an hour of pleasure for him, she bundles him off his stick and takes over the whittling duties herself. Bless her – or not as the case may be.

Last year I was making splatter movies (or to be more precise, photos)!
