4th June 2005 - a perfect end..

...to a hard day

Another gruelling day of painting has been my fate today but at last I can see light at the end of the tunnel – tomorrow’s coat of paint is the last that will complete the decoration of the downstairs of our little house, the stairs and the landing have been done too and that’s what I’ve been doing today – the wood on the stairs and landing. It’s the worst of the lot as it’s so sticky and takes ages to dry so dogs have been banned and spent the day in the garden. They’ve been whinging big time.

After I finished, we took them to the beach for a good run around and to give the paint time to touch dry. It was a great evening. The sun shone, the sky was blue, the dogs were playful and we had a brilliant time.

DM said, as we got out of the car ‘I think this is Archie’s favourite place in the world’ – well, I have to point out that it is mine too – Crantock Beach is IT for me. No question, I’d rather be there than anywhere on the planet. I’m glad Arch feels it too. He’s such a sensitive soul that I’m sure my happiness doesn’t go unnoticed by him but I believe he feels it too. We both know that what matters doesn’t cost money – it’s love and affection and we both feel loved here in the most safe, happy of places. It’s also wild and free and that’s important to us both too. Most of all, Tobes is there - his spirit waits for me in Rainbow Bridge and I get to feel close to him each time I walk the sands where his ashes were scattered six years ago.

Rosie on the other hand knows nothing but her own happiness. She is a hedonist of the highest order and lives for her own pleasure at all times. She too loves Crantock – she chases tennis balls until she can no longer put one foot in front of the other. When we get home, she poos sand for a week because of all the sand she eats while picking up her ball. It must be like having your insides exfoliated! This is a very typical pose for her, she’s got a face full of sand but is desperately trying to engage one of us to throw her tennis ball for her.

Now they both lie, each with a sofa of their own, snoozing after a lovely evening. We are sitting, both online, both able to do what we want as our broadband is now up and running – hurrah again! DM looks like an extra from a Haircut 100 video (rolled up jeans, Simple shoes, spiky hair and general ‘beach bum’ look to him) and he has done a great ‘air guitar’ rendition of Love Plus One when I said it to him.

I have finally got my Korea pics up….

Last year I was talking to inanimate objects and two years ago, I made an error of judgement and took DM to a Joe Jackson gig - I thought he'd love what I love but he didn't!!!
