5th March 2005 - Rollei Man

I know it would have been loads more ‘PC’ to post a shot of all the Photo a Day people having a great time. BUT I liked this pic so much I decided that I was going to post this one regardless.

We have spent the day in a crowd of ten – eight PotDers and two significant others. John (Cheryl Hawkins husband) and Cathi (Todd Thorpe’s wife) have been subjected to camera talk, endless ‘photo opportunities’ and a whole load of talk like ‘I always go to northstar37 every day, what about you?’. I think though that even this wasn’t off-putting to two extremely charming individuals – in fact the only ‘downside’ was that the two of them standing looking bemused while the rest of us peered at review screens!

A huge American Brunch with Larry and Jen before the eight of us went tourist preceded a trip to Twin Peaks that turned out to be somewhere else, the Golden Gate Bridge and the beach. The whole day was paced just right. Eventually a trip to the Java Café for lattes and beer as the sun set over the Pacific Ocean.

You might say the end of a perfect day but it’s not over yet. We are now sat in Jeanne’s lounge, with Dawn, Todd and Cathi, Cheryl and John and of course, Jeanne and Tony. DM and I both have our laptops open.

When I reviewed my photos, I just loved this one with DM using his 40th birthday gift from his parents, the Rolleicord, balanced on the wall, photographing the Golden Gate Bridge, with the sun blazing down.

Once again, I find myself in the bosom of a bunch of delightful, charming people who have come to me via pbase. I still feel as though this experience has made a huge difference to my world. I have made friends with people all over the world and as I meet those friends, I am struck by how much I LOVE these people. When I first started this journey (two years ago on Monday) I never realised just how amazing the ride would be. It’s a rollercoaster rush of adrenaline, fun and friendship that came out of the blue like a bolt!

Tomorrow, Santa Cruz – here we come!!!!

BTW - I can't remember who suggested that I get DM to do a 'Fergie' on me and kiss my toes but I never thought this would be a reality but today it happened!!!

Last year on this day I revealed our new view from our home in Cornwall.

Nice shot, the people with the "real" cameras.

It seems like yesterday when i was using a camera like this. It's the type of camera that demands your full attention. This is nicely seen in the photo!
