I woke this morning to the sound of DM getting out of bed and leaving the room. He appeared about fifteen minutes later with a tray of breakfast – juice, tea and thickly cut toast with butter and peanut butter – yum yum, thanks David.
I asked him what the weather was like, having heard him let the dogs out and his response was damp and dreary, not raining but not looking much like drying up either. Ah well, at least it’s proof that we don’t only attract the rain in Cornwall as we’ve not set foot outside Greater London (as far as N17) and the Home Counties (Surrey and Berkshire) all weekend.
When I popped out to let out the hens and feed the wabbits, I noticed that the rain was clinging to the passion vine that adorns the fence that keeps hens and dogs apart (most of the time at least). I am endlessly fascinated by the fact that rain seems to cling to certain plants yet when it hits others it just drops off. I don’t know why that is, I’m sure there is some scientific reason for it but I’ve no idea what.
So I grabbed the camera and tripod and went off for a few shots, the first time I’ve done any garden photography for a few months as I’ve been so preoccupied with other stuff recently. This shot is the one David liked best – I’ve posted a few others in my November gallery and some in my Little Drops of Rain gallery.
My title ‘passionate’ and my feelings today return to my observations from last week about the treatment of vegetarians in restaurants. I dropped the restaurant that I wrote about an email, with an explanation of how I felt and a link to my diary page that day and today had a response from them. I have ‘cut and pasted’ the response, more or less in full, on the pic so anyone who is interested to see how they responded can do so.
But I still feel really fed-up about it because I feel as though the owner of the restaurant either chose not to or didn’t understand the points I tried to make. So, I’ve decided to do what a couple of people suggested and write a book on the subject of where to find good, well thought out vegetarian food. So, if anyone has any experiences of veggie food in restaurants they’d like to share with me, good or bad, please do let me know and I will do my best to ensure their observations are reported.
