22nd September 2004 - riddle me ree

OK Jeannius – here’s the next challenge and may I remind you that I’m 1-0 up at the moment!!!

I will post you a clue in an hour if you’ve not got it by then! Oh and I'll upload the song before bedtime!

This is a lesser-known Elvis number and one that I think is hugely underrated. I have always loved its seething passion and suggestion.

The Jeanne birthday challenge has really made a difference to my day-to-day life because I was soooooooo glum because of work difficulties that I couldn’t switch my mind to anything else. Then I hit on the idea of an Elvis week for Jeanne and I feel like a new woman. I’ve been excited about something (other than DM of course) for the first time in ages in the week – these days I get the vast majority of my pleasure in a few short hours over the weekend and there seems little to pick me up in the week. I suppose that’s the price I pay for selling my soul to the devil and becoming a corporate whore.

So, today? I’ve been out and had a lunch break – for the first time in about three months and I missed an important call from the USA to do it but too bad! I went shopping for props to fuel my ideas for my EC week – and it may turn out to be an EC month as I’ve got such a rich seam of ideas going here – I’ve already got the next three days lined up!

So thanks Jeanne – you’ve given me just the fillip I needed to dig myself out of terminal despondency!!!

no to the guesses so far.....here's the clue

it's an early-ish track - it WAS released as a single in the UK (I have a copy) but yet it's not even mentioned in the Guinness Book of Hit Singles - that means it didn't reach the top 100. Final bit of the clue is there is a guest vocalist who was half of one of the most prolific british songwriting partnerships of the 70s and 80s and sang in a band that had hits on both sides of this pond that divides us....

New clue...

it's quiet and loud all at once...and I'm going to post soon!

No to all guesses.... it's 'from a whisper to a scream'

other sizes: small medium original auto

You are such a tease, Linda, but I am sure she is up for it! Pity I don't know (or like) any Elvis songs! LOL...maybe I'm just not educated (or old) enough! xxx

But I tried SOOO hard to guess! I REALLY thought I had it with Kinder Murder!!!! XX So much fun, Linda!

I GOT IT!!!!

"There's a ladder to heaven from a battered stiletto
Spitting out the words that he put into her mouth
See her in silhouette going down south

It's a kinder murder
It's a kinder murder"

"Why don't you love me like you used to do?
How come you treat me like a worn out shoe?
My hair is still curly and my eyes are still blue
Why don't you love me like you used to do?"
Guest 22-Sep-2004 21:27
You got me stumped, man!! I need to know! But I'll tell you, I LOVE the theme, and want to play!!

Perhaps I will do so next week!!!

"He was a leg man who was open to offers
But he couldn't get her off his mind as he passed the tourist office
And as he entertained himself singing just like sammy davis junior
He toyed with her trip to miami

For money like that
He could have sweet talk in her ear
Now they don't speak any english
Just american without tears"

ok, guessing here...
"And my arms keep reaching for you
And my eyes keep searching for you
And my lips keep calling for you
And my shoes keep walking back to you" Shoes keep walking back to you??

"Take your tiny feet out of your mother's shoes
Or there is going to be a terrible scene" _ Tripped at every step?

Or "She's wearing shoes without heels.
She's walking over the floor.
She's walking all over me
Weirder therein, you know how it feels
When she walks right out of the door." ~ Shoes without heels???
virginiacoastline22-Sep-2004 19:43
how about 'back on my feet' or 'baby plays around'??? I may not have the titles right =p

black shoes, black hosiery, a touch of elegant fingertips . .hmmmmmm (I'm liking this series . . and I don't know Elvis's songs all that well)

I don't know what song it is, but I sure can feel the energy! Linda how wonderful that you're inspired and excited! It's nice when that happens, isn't it? This photo is extremely passionate -- I can't wait to read the lyrics!
