28th August 2004 - and we came back for?????

Our second visit to the Lane of the season of course……

We have just witnessed a really good performance from the Spurs, who have notched up their second victory of the season and remain undefeated so far. We lie third in the Premiership table and we look like quite a good side. That makes a change….last season DM used Sarah’s season ticket for the first three games and was really eager to give it back with the ignominy of our defeats. Or now, we can bask in some glory and dream of European Footie. I must say, I’ll be completely happy with a top half finish and no relegation scramble if truth be told.

My shot is Johnnie Jackson (again), taking a corner kick in the first half of the game. His kick didn’t result in a goal but the unstoppable Jermain Defoe, scored a corker a couple of minutes later. A really good shot, beating a couple of defenders while he was about it. He’s really flying and that’s just as well as Sven Goran Eriksson was there to watch his performance and see whether he’s up to an England slot in the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers. On this performance I’d say he is in with a great chance.

Anyway, today’s game was surrounded by two lengthy sessions in the Bell and Hare, (in fact the second a bit too lengthy if my sore head is anything to go by) getting home at 10pm, just in time for Match of the Day when we were able to sit down and watch the action again, even though that meant waiting while every other game got reported before ours. There is a pattern emerging here as this has been the case for all of the four games this season. For some reason, the BBC really seem to dismiss the Spurs yet we are playing good football and scoring cracking goals. Pah to the Beeb!

Great photo! How do you get them to let you down on the field!? :) Hey, do you know all five of the other female soccer fans in England (sitting across the field in your picture)? It appears that fully 90% of the fans are young men with no hair. :) Also, why is it only in your soccer commentaries that you use all those strange words - or is there really an imposter who writes them?

Saw this thumb as I went to open up DM's pic. Didn't spot the photographer's name, but there again it wasn't necessary - I just knew!- You timed your trip to Cornwall well, but its a shame they weren't playing today! Glad you got a result as I've always had affection for them going way back to the Jimmy Greaves era, and I'm sort of 'local'. What's more, I've got Kanoute in my Fantsay League team.....

You must have some pretty good seats! Every time I see one of your shots from the game it's always from a low and close perspective. Awesome!

You are definitely a fan of the sport. I love all of the intent faces in the background.
