There is very little that I like more than cooking – for me it’s a pleasure to cook good food and it’s a good de-stresser after work. I apply the same ‘rules’ to cooking as I do to the rest of my life – buy the best gadgets you can afford because you’ll never regret it. My Dad taught me that years ago and I still apply those ‘rules’ now.
For all my adult life, I’ve had the same set of saucepans and they’re a bit tatty now to tell the truth and there are certainly not enough of them to equip two kitchens. DM didn’t own a single pan except for a wok when we met!
So, this was the best excuse possible to go and buy myself a new set of pans for this house and the old tatty ones can go down the A303 to Cornwall. As usual I applied my ‘rule’ of seeking out the best I could afford and came across a real bargain – now that I like too.
The department store in Epsom has been having a sale and I came across a set of pans (of which this is one), which contained half a dozen really high quality pans and if you bought the set you got another great big pan of the same make free. Cool already I thought – then I realised they were half-price – even cooler I thought – then I realised there was an additional 20% off the sale price – jackpot!
Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time…..
So, now I have a new pan on my stove with home grown beans in it, a dish in the oven with home grown potatoes that have been roasted in home grown rosemary and garlic and I’m just about to make two omelettes to finish our supper. Being in the right place at the right time extends to that too – think of us in ten minutes, tucking into that!
