Day 3 of “the great move”. We’ve all been working our socks off – me, mum, dad, Jan and Ed. Mum and dad have had to decamp from the chaos of their new home – to be honest I’m sure they relished a night away from boxes, mess and mayhem. Them leaving gave me an opportunity to make their world a little bit nicer. After they went out, I heaved all of their furniture around so I could clean the carpets in every room with my wonderful, trusty Bissell. I rather optimistically thought it’d take me about an hour. Pah. They left at about 4pm and I finally got away, dirty, exhausted and generally a bit cheesed off, at 6pm.
We’ve been living on weird mixtures and scraps for the last how long – yesterday left-over curry, the day before a camped meal at their house so tonight I’ve come in with a heavy heart that it’s going to be more strange stuff. Then I had a lightbulb moment – I have a tastecard that expires today. We set off into town with glee at the thought of a buy-one-get-one-free meal.
Our glee turned distinctly sour at the non-lightbulb moment when I realised my phone’s battery was flat so no tastecard and no freebie food. Pah again. Still, we did have a lovely cold beer at the newest place to be seen in town and these lightbulbs caught my eye.
