Remember the Acer that my mum gave me that was flowering such a short time ago? Well, a month later and it’s already set seed. Not only that, but the seeds are spectacularly beautiful. It’s all set up to make sure that the tree can produce seed and its DNA can live on even if the actual tree dies. It’s a wonderful cycle of life.
I love the fact that we’re starting to understand so much about how trees communicate with one another, both directly and using intermediaries such as mycorrhiza. I love the interdependence of different species and that it’s all going on underground where no-one sees or notices. It’s beautiful
