An unexpected message meant we had an even more unexpected visitor. One of our neighbours from Cornwall, the best man at our wedding, turned up out of the blue on route to the QE hospital in Birmingham where he’s going to get a (non) war wound sorted out. The funny thing is, he’s not here from the South West, he’s here from Cyprus!

Anyway we debated what to feed him and discounted going out because we didn’t think he’d be able to walk but, although he was limping, he could walk pretty well and hence we ended up in the pub, having burgers and chips washed down with a pint of Ubu.

Rather good it was too.
