It’s an exciting day – the concrete foundations for the first of our extensions were poured yesterday and today the first bricks arrived for the below-damp-course footings.

Oh my. In the more than 30 years since I bought my first home, only one didn’t get ripped apart and re-modelled. This one has taken some time to get started but it’s now on the way. We’re hoping that unlike the last one, its predecessor and the one before that, this one won’t take us 10 years to complete.

On Monday the first bricks will be laid and we’ll be properly on our way.
