I have been cleaning and sorting our CDs back into order after the great CD rack disaster of 2015. I’ve wiped the dust off them, put them back into order and while doing it I came across our Kevin McDermott Orchestra collection. My heart lurched because early on in our relationship we were in the process of sharing our taste in music by playing each other stuff we liked. It’s a kind of way of setting out our stalls, sharing who we are through the music we love.

I thought my love of KMDO was quite out on the left field and although he’s something of a hero among my closest group of friends (the famous five), I didn’t expect David to know anything about him. Imagine my surprise then when one of his favourite songs turned out to be a KMDO cover of a Monkees song. It was one of those thrilling moments when I realised that there is another bond between us.

These days the collection of his music is bigger, not just by dint of combining collections, but because newly released CDs have arrived here since then (we can thank Colin for one).
